The Pillars of the Mirador #3: KEVIN CAMPEAU

Kevin Campeau is one of the teachers of the Vienna Academy of Visionary Art. We asked him before the festival.

– What does visionary art mean to you?

– Visionary art is a guiding light for many. It has become over time for many people around the world a kind of mercurial chalice of transformation, including for me. By following my own vision and heart through many different gates of consciousness and rites of passage I have naturally ended up doing what I am doing now, creating it and sharing it with others. To me it is a positive message of love and healing for humankind manifesting in the form of works of art – sacred images which call to our primordial selves, reminding us of the vast and limitless spiritual potential we hold and which we may offer openly to one another.

– What are your views and experiences in connection with it?

– My whole life has been one long vision quest and art for me has become a way of grounding within and resonating from that truth. The quest is filled with intentions, with desires and dreams. These dreams, through focus and practice, can be realized to be alive, to have their own dreams in fact. Dreams have dreams. I sensed this from an early age within my heart and knew somehow that this was a form of release in me – that this freed me from my patterns, from my identity, from myself. I was not alone in being a dreamer, in being part of the entire dream at once. I searched in the world for others, following the signs as they appeared, trusting my own experience to tell me if I had found them. I came up to the threshold of certain other souls, reached out and was welcomed by them. This has been my experience with visionary art and the creative family of artists who tend to the sacred elements required for it’s manifestation.

– What is your own personal vision?

– In the heart of The Artist is a path to healing – I have come to recognize it as a kind of vision jewel. Perhaps it is also the wish-fulfilling jewel for it seems to understand wishes, transmitting them reflectively in the form of self-completing image streams. As an artist I bathe in these wishing-streams like a water-bird, diving into them, rising again and shaking off the excess. What I have ever come up with creatively has to do directly with what I am wishing for and how deep I have chosen to dive into that wish.
I’ve learned and developed practices over the years that help me stabilize and do some really deep diving – meditation techniques, inner journeying and visualization methods, mnemonic devices, etc. All these things have been magical boons, gifts that add to the treasure of having a personal vision at all. I have come to a point in my life where my main wish is to share. I want to share the art I make, the words I write, the practices I take part in.
What role does visionary art play in the psytrance scene and culture?
Visionary art can be a transforming and healing experience for many of the open-hearted souls who venture within and take part in psytrance culture – we are all dreamers sharing the same dream!

– Have you been to Ozora before? What are your expectations?

– This is my first time! I am really looking forward to seeing and spending time in the Mirador visionary art gallery, thank you so much team for all of your efforts in planning and constructing this new structure and organizing the festival at large – the artists thank you!!!  I’m also going to be co-leading several workshops on inner journeying with Alexandra Moskovchuk in the Chambok House during the festival – something which has a lot of combined experience and depth training behind it and which I am so happy to be able to be a part of and share with everyone. I am looking forward to diving in, being part of the team and enjoying myself! Thank you!

Installation Art: Longstanding Landmarks Along Our Ozorian Journey

Besides visual arts and murals, the Ozorian art scene is a dynamic blend of predesigned installations and spontaneous, on-the-spot creations. Each year, the festival showcases works from both invited artists and those who apply through the Art Open Call. Some installations are meticulously planned, while others emerge organically—like the fusion of two separate, well-thought-out projects: […]

OZORIAN ART – an OZORA 2022 art review

Translation of Hungarian “Ozorai művészet” by Orsolya Bajusz from artportal.hu  Perhaps the sort of art that comes to be canonized is one that can be written about. Deconstructed. Conceptually, rationally interpreted. Didactic, clever art you can argue about. The consequence of this, however, is that (based on my observations) people pay more attention to objects […]

OZORIAN Da Vinci

Otto Da Vincze is an artist who has been basically hiding in clear sight during the last few editions of OZORA. Part of the Mirador crew and secret member of the “Artibarn anarchists”, he has put in loads of sleepless hours and sweat into helping create the art scene. He’s the set up manager on […]

One of these milestones in the bridge-symbolic 2019 edition was connecting important world heritage directly to our present psychedelic subculture, showing how it has […]
