It’s all about music: Journeying into Autumn

Our first autumn music recommendations bring you familiar beats with a two-hour journey around the legendary Ticon sounds, crazy fun on the dancefloor with Rinkadink and his label MVX Records, and a crunchy, techno-influenced darkprog studio album of Kliment brought to you by Zenon.

Ticon: Remixed

Fresh out of the oven: Iboga Records’ October digital release is the new 25 (!) track EP with remixes of the best Ticon tracks from the past decade. Including a 2013 version of “We Are the Mammoth Hunters” by the Ticon guys making it a little bit even crazier, the Remixed album showcases amazing reworks from almost all the beloved Ticon hits such as “Waiting for the Knights”, “1987” or “In The Dirt”, just to name a few. With musicians like Riktam&Bansi, Liquid Soul, Lish, Sub6, Symphonix, Time in Motion, Captain Hook, Atmos, Tripswitch, and the list goes on, the remixes range from progressive psy-trance to chill-out and techno, making the album a complete journey into Ticon sound.

Rinkadink: Remove the Shield

Remove the Shield is the latest EP of Rinkadink released on MVX Records, his new label in September. MVX Records is also the home of Broken Toy’s second side project after Sad Paradise: Rad Parasites, the extremely funny and funky electro and techno-influenced psychedelic progressive madness of the South African artist – the debut EP “Zombie Time” came out this August. “Remove the Shield” is another definite dancefloor bomb, just as expected from Rinkadink. Mystical yet groovy with a melody both melancholic and playful, it is a fusion of everything that makes sense in full-on, prog and freestyle psychedelic electronica. It’s definitely worth keeping our eyes out for more from MVX and Rinkadink in the near future.

kliment

Klimet: Empty Space

Beginning of last month Zenon Records released the second full-length studio album of Kliment, master of the deep atmospheric progressive sound from Bulgaria. The album is definitely trending towards the crunchier and sometimes even darker elements, which make it different from Kliment’s earlier works, for example on Iboga Records. Techno influence is also heavy on this one with a fair share of psychedelic vibe. On the new album Kliment tried to travel away a bit from his usual “Deep bass and solid grooves” sound and away from the conventional retro progressive psytrance vibes going deeper and deeper into the techno realms track by track. BPMs are also a little slower than in the earlier works, yet Empty Places is nevertheless one of the most interesting releases from Kliment by far.
