It’s All About Words – THE LUCKY EGGS
By M L Ghisi –
A space for short stories and poems by M.L. Ghisi, someone who enjoys Psytrance and whose life has been transformed by the sheer experience of this style of music.
Here is an opportunity to take time to pause and reflect, breathe in inspiration and energy to keep moving foward. Simply sharing thoughts and ideas about reality or fiction, be that light or deep, funny or sad, it does not matter… It’s all just a reflection of life.
The following piece was based on a true story!
The Lucky Eggs
When I was small, my mother kept two chickens in the back garden. It was around one of those mild winters in the south of Brazil, fresh at sunrise, while a cold breeze would cut through your face, but not intensely enough to freeze the ground.
Every morning, my sister and I would open our eyes after the crack of dawn, with big expectations luring in the back of our minds and an excitement, as to who would be the lucky one to find the eggs, which the chicken usually laid on the same spot every day. Needless to say, my sister, who was older, was always the one to find them. And every morning, I would return to the breakfast table, desolated as to why I did not find the chicken eggs.
This was how life felt after all, a series of lucky chances and happenings.
“Would I be lucky enough to find the eggs today?”
This I did not know.
One morning, my mother returned from the garden before we were ready for our egg search, and leaning close against my ear, whispered this valuable information:
“Today the chicken laid her eggs in another place, near the corner of the side wall.”
And there I went, confidently expecting to find the eggs, which I finally did! What a joy!
That was a day when love conquered luck and the smallest became the biggest…
This story has remained in my mind since then, the lucky eggs have become a synonym for finding good things in life: opportunities, friends, work and inspiration. These are my lucky eggs nowadays. How many will I find? There are days when I meet none, and I return to my thoughts with a somber feeling in my heart. But on days when just one egg is found, let alone many, these are the days to be rejoiced and fully felt as a triumph like no other!
Life can be quite simple, really. Just fill it up with lucky eggs and it can seem truly complete.
To this day, I still remember those chickens running freely in our back garden, unaware of how important they were for me and my formation, and the profound meaning that their lucky eggs would still hold in my life today.
