Daily Whoo! – Spider Boogie in Printless Paradise

As many returning Ozorians have noticed, we are experiencing how paperlessness works at this reunion edition. This not only means you did not get a pocket program guide at the gates, but also that there is no printed promo material, like posters, and for the first time since its inception in 2012, there are no daily Ozorian Prophets. Instead, you can find painted signposts to guide your way, the festival map hanging around and the timetables handwritten on boards at the stages. Besides a daily bit of news published online on the Prophet’s webpage, and not readily available for revelers on the festival grounds where wifi is scarce if any, however, The Prophet is silent on this printless 10th anniversary.

Of course, the good and bad concomitants of this decision will be brainstormed after the festival before going forward, but for now, we remain as we are, without printed media or online access in the Valley which both have their advantages and disadvantages. On a positive note, this way newcomers and veteran Ozorians alike can all live in the present moment to the fullest and practice truly going with the flow, hopefully getting unstuck from their devices, the internet, relearning direct human communication for pleasure and information, finding new ways to stay updated and make contact, sharing information by word of mouth, or rediscovering the usefulness of the Message Board.

Most festival villagers, newcomers and longtimers alike, have by now surely worked out how to find out who’s playing at a certain time, how to find friends around the festival, how to get informed or soak in some extra knowledge in this perhaps environmentally friendlier paperless festival. Nevertheless, we are undoubtedly missing some platforms for sharing and spreading daily messages, news, and getting more of the psychedelic cultural content of our scene to everyone here in our present alternate reality.

But at the end of the day, you can always count on the universe’s mysterious ways to get some messages across… Yesterday, for instance, I happened to be in the right place at the right time to run into one of The Prophet’s contributors, who I didn’t know had also arrived at the festival, as we hadn’t been in recent contact, Zsuzsa Bakonyi aka Spiderosa, our spider-whisperer poetess and so much more… fire dancer, photographer, artist, and shiny free soul. The free verse into which she channels the messages she receives from spiders has been published both in printed daily Prophets, as well as in online editions throughout the years. After some merriment and brief catching up, of course, my question was whether she had any new spider lyrics. In reply, this is what awaited me today, this is what the spiders had to say… Whoo!

SPIDER BOOGIE by Spiderosa

Spider bear
Spider wolf
Do not be alone
Under the moon!

Tide will rise
Time to go
On the side
Where you belong

Tribes you choose.
The more you have,
You have to connect
Be the dot,
In the middle of the web.

The more you’re freed
The better you hear
The further you leap
The mightier your faith

We are proud
Of all of you.
Spider bears
Spider wolves
Spider boogie of the crowd.

Daily Whoo! – Shpongled Still

Unfortunately, “Everyone’s Daddy”, Raja Ram was not among the makers of this festival, for the first time since the present team took over organizing the event in 2012, but possibly since the very beginning. Neither was Simon Posford, with whom they pioneered the ambient-psychedelic rock fusion genre we call Psybient, and have been Shpongling us […]

Daily Whoo! – “It was pure freedom!”

Written by BLAZE Every year at O.Z.O.R.A. there are a multitude of stories that make up the whole: a shining ball covered in a billion specks of glitter, which sparkle up when the light of our attention falls on them. This particular one began ten years ago, when sixtysomething Croatian social worker Raya (aka Rajka […]

Daily Whoo! – “That Day”

On Opening Monday, the Prophet played cupid and shared one of those warm, fuzzy stories that can both begin and end with “if it wasn’t for Ozora…” Today, on the other hand, the calendar says it’s Wednesday… Whatever happened to Tuesday? We would never know if it wasn’t for Ozora:) As kids, when we learned […]

Daily Whoo! – For the First-Timers at O

Written by BLAZE It’s been three long years since our last festival, so for many, this will be their first time here.  Blaze offers some advice. So, it’s your first time here, or even at a gathering? First of all: welcome, dear soul! Welcome to the tribe. You will feel and experience new things, new […]

Daily Whoo! – Till They Danced Happily Ever After

From country to country, from tribe to tribe, the key to paradise is one shared vibe.” Is every day an opening of some kind? Since the gates to our Paradise opened, the stages are not just coming to life, but rather exploding with a crowd that’s clearly held back their dancing feet for too long. […]

Daily Whoo! – Big Sky in the Dome, Opening on the Ozorizon

Yes, it was! The Japanese Zero Day in the Dome was a stellar way to return to the source. Whoever I talked to today, felt the same, that it was a super amazing start to this edition. The Dome was packed like the last time in 2019 and you could hear the dancers’ party-heated hoots […]

Daily Whoo! – Japanese Zero Day at Dome ’22

SUBARASHII!  The time has come for our Zero Day celebrations! Whoo! The last time we zero-d out in the Dome was “last year 3 years ago”. In 2019, after the winter we didn’t get to India to hold our tradition-starting One Day in Goa event, instead, we had a One Day Goa at OZORA as […]
