Wake & Bake

Today is World Baking Day, founded by the faceless community behind the worldbakingday.com website, which is unfortunately passive (but hopefully this does stand for the community as well). We, on the other hand, as festivalgoers and the Ozorian Prophet’s readers already know, are actively passionate about all kinds of baking. So we can only welcome this ‘wake and bake’ initiative from last year and make it our own agenda as well.

It’s quite easy for us to do so because we have the Ozorian community kitchen area, the Cooking Grove with its traditional wood burning oven and handbuilt grill stoves, continuously growing grove by grove. Besides the freestyle community baking (and cooking) everyone can take part in, in the past two years you could also participate in workshops here, focusing on a different topic each day of the festival week (see below). It won’t be any different this summer.

We will soon interview master Fáni about this year’s program, who has been busy on site for some weeks now, making sure the Cooking Grove is as welcoming and useful as ever. Until we find out more, you can read our colleague’s, Blaze’s related articles, which all contain a special recipe as well.

2014: Grains – ‘Our Daily Bread’: Wheat | Millet | Rye | Oat| Rice | Corn | Barley

2015: Chakra Colours: Red | Blue & Purple | Red | Orange | Yellow | White | Rainbow

See you around the fireplace very soon but as the founder says:

Pledge to bake now.

Healthy and tasty desserts, smart munchies

From A’s Holistic Pantry – I love cookies and cakes, but don’t like it when a a slice of pleasure comes with a huge avalanche of flour and sugar. Eating these kinds of sweets regularly is a refined, socially accepted form of self-destruction. I’m not saying that sugary, buttery, floury desserts are the devil’s doing. […]

Feel like a snack minus the weight gain ? Open a can of chickpeas!

Part 1: Chocolate Mousse from A’s Holistic Pantry Canned chickpea is a great invention. I always have some in my pantry because kitchen-ready chickpeas always save the day, be it breakfast, lunch or dinnertime, even when I only have 10-15 minutes to spare. And if that weren’t enough, it’s amazingly tasty and you can also […]
